Where to start! Rhossili Bay is a permanent fixture in Wales’ Best Beach top 10 and has been voted number one on numerous occasions. It has been awarded a host of other gongs including a 2021 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award, you won’t find a more beautiful spot in the UK!
Rhossili has been described as ‘The supermodel of British beaches’ by The Independent and has won accolades from UK Travel Writers and awards for being the best spot to have a picnic, one of the best surf spots in Wales, and not forgetting our four legged friends, The Times nominated Rhossili as ‘The UK’s No.1 dog-friendly beach’.
So what’s all the fuss about?
3 miles of sandy shore, encompassing one of Gower’s most famous landmarks, Worms Head; watersports and in particular surfing, benefit from the Atlantic swell, whilst sand-castle builders benefit from the fine golden sand. The views are incomparable and are best enjoyed from one of the many walking routes, which feature the beach, Worm’s Head and the cliffs, you may even see some basking seals or dolphins playing in the surf. And of course, Rhossili Bay is part of the Gower Coast Path.
Situated at the very end of the Gower peninsula, the small village of Rhossili is accessible via car and public transport (SA3 1PP).
Rhossili Bay is accessed via steps from the village, near the car park. It is a fair way down, and unfortunately there is no access by wheelchair this way. The breath taking views are definitely worth the walk. Catch it on a sunny day and don’t forget your camera! Alternatively, take a stroll along the relatively flat route towards the Coastwatch Centre and enjoy views across the Bay and out towards Worm’s Head.
Toilets: 24 hour public toilet with RADAR. Unisex baby change and outside shower.

Public transport: Yes, the distance between stop and beach may include difficult or rough terrain.
Dogs: Allowed on beach all year.
Wheelchair access: Not to the beach.
Lifeguards: No.
Parking, public transport and refreshments are all 400m from the bay.

When crossing over to Worm’s Head, please check the tide times and report to the Coastwatch Centre. Take care not to stray too far from the main path along the headland, the cliffs are very steep!
