The Welsh Battle PromsMonday 27th August from 3pmDescription Tawe Fest 'Classical Day', featuring the Welsh Battle Proms Orchestra Welsh Soprano Gwawr Edwards, Only Boys Aloud (Britain's Got Talent finalists), plus 200 live cannons & fireworks! This picnic and firework concert promises an unrivalled blend of musical talent, expert displays, spectacular pyrotechnics, plus a few thunderous suprises – let battle commence! With a two hour programme of exquisite classical music including Mendelssohn's 'Hebrides Overture' (Fingal's Cave), and Massenet's Méditation from Thaïs plus of course all of the 'Last Night of the Proms' favourites. But it is the concert's name-sake, a little-known piece by Beethoven called the 'Battle Symphony', which makes this event so unique. The composer's intention was for the music to be accompanied by the ultimate percussion section, and he ambitiously wrote nearly 200 live firing cannons into the original score. Book tickets Tickets for the concert are priced at £25, with an early bird offer available at £20 (booking fee applies).
