With the Premier League football season now underway, Swansea Council, Welsh Government, Swansea City Football Club and the Stadium Management Company, have been working closely to ensure the media interest is maximised.

Already, following sharing of leads and data with Swansea City Football Club, Swansea Council has been dealing with an increase in media activity from some of the largest media organisations on the planet.

Sky sports, BBC, Eurosport and NHK Cosmomedia Europe Ltd (Japan) are just some of the media companies filming or planning to film over the next few days and they all have been captivated by the Area's natural beauty.

The Premier League's newest destination and Wales' first premier league football team are likely to welcome thousands of supporters over the course of the season. For some, it's likely to be their first visit to Wales, but the Council and its partners are keen to ensure that this is not a one off visit and that away supporters return in the future.

Having the world's media mentioning the word "Swansea" to a global audience over the next 8 months is going to put Swansea quite clearly on the map.

Robbie Nock of Eurosport, based in Paris, but originally from Chepstow, has been in the city for 2 days and whilst he remembers all the fantastic places on Gower from his youth, he was surprised how the city has grown.

Robbie said "I was delighted when Swansea was promoted and becoming the first Welsh team to appear in the Premier League is a great achievement. The interview I conducted with the Lord Mayor today, included a bit of Welsh and if I am not mistaken, will be the first interview ever to be conducted in Welsh on Eurosport"

The Leader of Swansea Council, Cllr Chris Holly said "The Swans winning promotion was quite clearly the beginning of something big, both on and off the pitch. The Swans playing in the Premier League is a great opportunity to raise the city's profile to new audiences in the UK and overseas.

Swansea Council, in conjunction with the Welsh Government, Swansea City Football Club and the Stadium Management, is working with some of the world's biggest media organisations to further raise awareness of Swansea as a place to live, visit, study and do business."
