Thousands of nominations have already been received for The Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year Award, but with a month left to nominate, diners can still have their say.
The Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year Award recognises culinary excellence and good service at restaurants, pubs and cafés across the UK. The award gives people the opportunity to nominate their favourite local establishment across ten UK regions, with the criteria that restaurants should be independently owned and offer local produce where possible.
The ten regional winners will be announced at the end of May and the overall winner will be announced at an awards ceremony at Kings Place, London on 23rd June.
At this half way stage front runners include Gower's very own Maes Yr Haf Restaurant with Rooms. Since its opening in 2007, and thanks to its new Head Chef, Ben Griffiths, and Front of House Manager, Mark Wicks, Maes Yr Haf has become one of the most well known places to dine and sleep in the Swansea Bay area.
Emphasis is on the use of the best-quality, fresh produce ranging from local meats, fish, game and vegetables, to home-made breads and petit fours. Dishes change to coincide with the ever changing seasons of the year and tend to change on a monthly basis.
Maes Yr Haf have recently won the award for best fine dining restaurant in Swansea.
