Swansea's Liberty Stadium is celebrating after being picked as ABPCO's top venue for South Wales in the March edition of the M&IT (Meeting & Incentive Travel) Magazine.

ABPCO conference organiser Rachel Howells, from The Carbon Trust, explains why she chose this venue:

"We held our annual conference at the Liberty Stadium in December 2010. The nature of the event meant there were few venues that could accommodate us. Upon viewing the facilities at the Liberty Stadium, we immediately felt it was a perfect fit.

During the initial visit, we talked through the format of the day with the extremely helpful events team to ensure they could meet our requirements: conference hall to accommodate 300 delegates; an adjoining room with a shell scheme for 30 exhibitors; an area for briefing sessions; catering and networking space and a number of small easily accessible meeting rooms for one-to-one advice sessions. The majority of the conference took place across one floor of the stadium so logistically it was ideal.

We organise all our events in compliance with BS8901, so the thing that really made the Liberty Stadium stand out was how committed they were to helping us deliver the event as sustainably as possible, providing us with energy data relating specifically to our event and helping us incentivise delegates to travel to the venue via public transport by donating match tickets for a prize draw!"

The Liberty Stadium scored a whopping 50 out of 60 points on the ABPCO score card for venues - including 9/10 for staff, exhibition space and facilities, as well as value for money.

ABPCO - the Association of British Professional Conference Organisers - is the UK's only association whose Full and Associate members are individual professional conference and event organisers selected by peer assessment and working for agencies as well as in-house, in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
