The 40-year-old Hollywood actress won best lead actress in a musical just days after being appointed a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Catherine, who grew up in Treboeth and Mumbles, won her first-ever Tony for her role as an amorous actress in the revival of A Little Night Music.

The Tony Awards are the stage equivalent of the Oscars and Catherine already has one of those. She earned the best supporting actress gong in 2003 for her portrayal of murderous Velma Kelly in the film version of the musical Chicago.
