Visitors with dogs are asked to keep to our 'dog friendly' beaches until the end of September

Dog in surf, Gower Peninsula
Today (May 1st) marks the start of the annual five-month access restriction for dogs on some Swansea Bay and Gower beaches. Visitors with dogs are asked to keep to our 'dog friendly' beaches until the end of September (or you do risk a fine).
The bye-law restricting dogs to certain beaches comes into force on May 1st, and is in place until September 30th. The restrictions mean that a small number of beaches are off-limits to dogs between these dates (read on for details of these beaches, and those which allow year-round access).
Between May 1st and September 30th, dogs are not allowed on the following beaches:
- Swansea Bay from the River Tawe to the slip (opposite Victoria Park/Patti Pavilion)
- Swansea Bay from the beach access at Sketty Lane Car Park (opposite the Wales National Pool/Singleton Boating Lake) to the Northern edge of the slip (opposite the West Cross Inn)
- Bracelet Bay, Mumbles
- Limeslade Bay, Mumbles
- Rotherslade Bay, Langland
- Langland Bay
- Caswell Bay
- Port Eynon beach from the eastern edge of the steps to Port Eynon beach to the eastern edge of Horton beach access.
Despite restricted access for dogs on some beaches during peak season, many beaches allow year-round access:
- Swansea Bay from the slip (opposite Victoria Park/Patti Pavilion) to the beach access at Sketty Lane Car Park (opposite the Wales National Pool/Singleton Boating Lake)
- Mumbles (as far as the lighthouse)
- Pwll Du
- Pobbles
- Three Cliffs Bay
- Oxwich Bay (including Crawley and Tor Bay)
- Horton (from the Lifeguard Station east towards Oxwich)
- Port Eynon (from the main steps west to the Salt House)
- Mewslade Bay
- Rhossili Bay
- Llangennith
- Broughton Bay, north Gower
- Whiteford Sands, north Gower
